The training programme is run by coach Alex Cavell:

Alex is a former Oxford Brookes University oarsman and joined OUWLRC in August 2005. Alex has helped introduce an athlete support team that will assist the rounded development of the lightweight team; including physiological testing, physiotherapy, and nutrition.

Equipment
OUWLRC trains and races in two Resolute eights, two coxed fours, a coxless/four quad, and two coxless pairs/doubles. Rowers with their own single sculls are encouraged to bring them to Wallingford.
Facilities
The squad rows from the new OUBC boathouse at Wallingford on the Thames.
On land the squad uses the OUBC gym at the Iffley Road sports centre, equipped with free weights, ergos, and rowing tank.

Training Camps
Training camps are an important part of our race preparation. We have held a December long weekend camp at Lake Wimbleball in Dorset, and hope to make this an annual camp. Our main training camp is held in early January for preliminary crew selection and training; we return to Lake Wimbleball for this camp.  In addition, the Boat Race crew holds a residential training camp in Henley the week before the Boat Race.
