|

OUWLRC runs a development squad in Trinity term for all rowers wishing to improve their rowing/coxing and experience training with a university squad. Whether you are a very experienced rower, or have only some college experience, development squad provides a great introduction to rowing for Oxford. Our development squad begins after Summer Eights. It is based at Wallingford and train out of the new world-class OUBC boathouse. Crews are entered for:
-
Metropolitan Regatta (31 May - 1 June)
-
Reading Amateur Regatta (14-15 June)
-
Henley Women’s Regatta (20-22 June)
You don’t need to be any particular weight for these races. At this stage your size and erg scores aren’t too important, we welcome anyone who has an interest in trialling for the OUWLRC 2009 Blue Boat.
To enter these races you need to be a member of the ARA (Amateur Rowing Association), so if you intend to join our Development Squad please ensure your membership is up-to-date: www.ara-rowing.org. You will need to have OUWLRC down as one of your clubs (it comes up as 'Oxford Univ LWW' on the ARA's online system) and you can choose other clubs too.
The development squad have previously been very successful at Henley Women’s Regatta, with three development eights qualifying in 2007. The 2007 lightweight development eight went on to reach the second round, beating Reading Rowing Club. In 2006, three Development Squad rowers competed in Intermediate Eights in a crew that went on to win the cup, beating Birmingham University in the final.
