The need for regular funding
For too long, pressure on the Oxford Clubs including OUWLRC to raise funds as well as to compete at the highest level has been growing. These Oxford crews have a fantastic track record against Cambridge, and on several occasions recently have produced a clean sweep in the Henley Boat Races. They have provided Great Britain and other countries with World Championship rowers and medalists.
Donations to OUWLRC make a significant difference to our club. Gifts from our alumni and supporters enable the club and its current members to succeed.
By donating to the club you help us to, for example:
- obtain high quality coaching
- contribute to maintaining our equipment (insurance, storage and facility fees)
- reduce the cost of Henley accommodation or training camp
- pay our race entry fees and transport
- pay ongoing training costs like fuel and bus fares
- offset the cost of Boat Race kit
If all our alumni and other supporters made a donation, large or small, this would make a fantastic difference!
There are two types of donations: either to the ongoing club costs or to the Endowment Fund. See below for more information and how to donate. Thank you.
1. Ongoing Club Costs
Donations will go in their entirety to offset the costs for the current year, such as equipment maintenance, training camps, Boat Race kit. As such these benefit our members directly and immediately.
Donations may be made by cheque, standing order, direct debit or credit card through the Oxford University Development Office using the forms here:

If you are a UK taxpayer, please consider making a Gift Aid donation by signing the Gift Aid box on the form. This gives us an extra 28% at no cost to you!
2. The Endowment Fund
Interest only from the fund will go towards our annual expenses, and donations will be used to build up the principal. We aim to make the club financially self-sufficient, to reduce the cost to our student members and ensure we can depend on stable funding from year to year. The Funds will be managed and administered by the OUBC Trust and appointed Fund Managers. The Fund will be made up of four segments: OUWLRC specific, General Endowment, OUWBC specific, OULRC specific.
Donations may be made by cheque, standing order, or direct debit through the Oxford University Boat Club Trust using the form here:
