Erg session at Iffley Gym

The date for the 2012 Boat Race was set to 25 March, and trialling has begun in the first week of September. Training with OUWLRC consists of 10-12 sessions on and off the water. Our land training takes place in the Iffley Road Sports Complex, and all water sessions are in Wallingford in the Fleming Boathouse.

Triallists in previous years have been a mix of undergraduates and graduate students, some in their final years and from all parts of the world. Our training is scheduled around the usual 9-5 working/studying hours allowing to fit it in with the busy academic schedule of the students. Whilst the first few weeks allow to have weekday evening outings, as the days get shorter we have most evening sessions in the gym in Oxford. Throughout the season, we race as Tethys Boat Club and enter local head races in the run up to the big event in March.

The weight limit for the lightweight boat race is 59.0 kg on race day, and we recommend that you start the season weighing not more than 65.0 kg. We have a nutritionist who supports our athletes in their weight management.

If you are interested in joining our squad as a rower or coxswain, or have any further questions about lightweight rowing in Oxford please contact president [at] ouwlrc.org
